ESSENTIAL INFORMATION REGARDING THE EXAM- MUST READ!

Summer Skip
You will be tested upon return in September.  The test is comprised of (4) sections.   

These sections are the following:

1)  5 oral questions which test your ability to interpret spoken prompts. For this section, you will be asked to construct a short-answer response based upon your understanding.  (Worth 10%)

2)  5 written question prompts to test your ability to interpret written statements containing level 2 appropriate content.  For this section, you will be asked to construct a full-answer response for each question. (Worth 10%)

3)  Reading Comprehension- For this section, you will tested upon your ability to interpret level 2 appropriate content found within paragraph or dialogue format.  You will be asked to respond to basic comprehension questions in demonstrating your understanding of the reading passage. (Worth 5%)

4)  Writing Prompt- For this section, you will be asked to construct a written paragraph which demonstrates your ability to construct statements using the preterit (passé compose) and imperfect (imparfait).   The written passage will be evaluated using the attached writing rubric.  (Worth 50%) 


In order to skip level 2, you will need to pass the exam with a minimum score of 90%.  You will be given 1.5 hours to complete the exam.  The exam date is scheduled for:  Thursday, September 3, 2015, at 2:30, in the French room.


The exam will test your ability to demonstrate mastery of the skills learned in the level 2 French program.  To prepare for this exam, please be sure to cover the following components in great depth:

·        Familiarity with major verbs: aller, être, avoir, faire, prendre, vouloir, devoir, pouvoir.

·        Familiarity with major verb classes : -er, -ir, -re verbs  - along with a familiarity with high-frequency verbs.

·        Familiarity with Direct and Indirect Object Pronouns

·        A strong understanding and ability to use and construct :  Passé Composé

·        A strong understanding and ability to use and construct :  Imparfait

·        A strong understanding and ability to differentiate between usage of  Passé Composé and Imparfait
